Fire, Fire
I woke up in the middle of the night,
There was a smell in the air,
It wasn’t quite right.
Something was bad,
I didn’t know then,
That it was being destroyed, everything I had.
My dad ran and threw me over his shoulder,
He was screaming at my mom,
“Hold her, hold her!”
It was still dark, I couldn’t see,
There had to be something wrong,
To make my family flee.
The air was different, too hot,
I wanted to be put down,
So, against my moms grip, I fought.
Outside, it was too bright,
It didn’t make any sense,
It was still night.
From my house, there was a glow,
It looked like a candle,
Or an explosion, about to blow.
Looking at my house, in my princess night gown,
Watching,
As my house burned down.
