Mountain Goat
By: Sarah Snider

A little mountain goat I am
Some people think I am a lamb
I climb mountains all day long
Singing my mountain song

I slide, I fall, I feel so small
I take risks, but sometimes I have to stand tall
I never need help up from a fall
But I have to get past the mountain’s wall

I climb to the top, into the sky
I almost pick up and fly
I am still singing my song
Now I will reach the bottom, for I have to say so long

A big and strong mountain goat I am
I am never mistaken for a lamb
My horns are big, my legs are tall
All because I got past the mountain’s wall

SARAH - MAY WE READ YOUR POEM DURING OUR SECOND GRADE MUSIC PROGRAM? WE ARE PERFORMING CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS AND WOULD LIKE TO READ YOUR POEM BEFORE WE SING THE SONG OF THE WILD DONKEYS, EHICH WE TURNED INTO THE MOUNTAIN GOAT SONG. OUR PROGRAM IS NEXT MONDAY EVENING, FEB 16, 2009. I REALLY LIKE YOUR POEM - IT FITS OUR SONG VERY WELL AND SAYS A GREAT DEAL ABOUT FACING CHALLENGES AND TURNING IT INTO GROWTH. THANKS YOU SO MUCH.
