   I sit there with

the phone in my lap

Waiting, waiting ...

Once again,

I check the clock

Waiting, waiting ...

I feel fear, excitement,

and nervousness

Waiting, waiting ...

My heart thumps with every second

and beats with every sound

Waiting, waiting...

RING! RING!

I scream

Grab the phone

Knuckles white

But cannot take it

Off the hook

What will I say?!

How will I say it?!

Scared stiff

A statue of fear

Waiting, waiting ... ...

Silence.

Was it him?
