The Heart of Alone

Jolted wake my the taps on my window
The only light I see is a red beam from my radio
My eyes adjust to the darkness
And I hear the sound again
I know it’s loneliness that’s trying to get in

I pull back m curtains and look down into the street
Like a lost puppy
Dark and handsome loneliness is pleading to me
He opens his arms and summons my soul
I shake my head to tell his dark embrace no

He suddenly fades away and
My heart is filled with relief
I turn away from the window
Loneliness is now standing right in front of me
I can see his sweet sorrow slowly darkening the room
He stares at me with those glowing eyes
Reading my mind I assume

Tears swell in my eyes because I don’t want loneliness to be here
He is sweet to me but holds me in constant fear
He wipes away my tears
That has slipped from my self control
He touches my cheek
Calming my running soul

He fades away again
Leaving me weak
Leaving me alone
Leaving me in dark defeat
With a pain inside that has further grown

He was my friend
Yet my worst enemy
Showing up when not expected
But owning my heart
Owning me

I LOVE THIS POEM....You are a really amazing writer. I love the imagery you use to describe a feeling, how you used it to make loneliness personified. I love how much i can relate to it :D
