A Fathers Day Poem

Father is more than just his name
but, he is the heart of my memories
The influence in the person I became
He came to me with open arms
on the day I entered this world
He held me tight and said,
“Your going to be daddy’s little girl”
You were the hero of my childhood
In the eyes of an innocent kid
I walked right beside you
was part of everything that you did
You were the strength in my adolescence
gave me support through my decisions
held me up and believed in me
even if I wasn’t your perfect vision
I want to follow in your footsteps
be led by your hand
I want to be able to be
in the footsteps where you stand
I want to have your caring heart
full of love and understanding
I want to hold my head up high
no matter what trial is passing
To be just like dad
is something I wish to be
the father I love and honor
will always be part of me
To honor such a big man
in this a small way
I hope will let you see
how much I love you, happy fathers day.
