Ode to the eraser resting on the pencil
Let the words flow
A river for the wise

You mustn’t erase the past
Cherish each mark you put

The wood grains beneath are support
But you are the head

Squishy and pearly pink
You are not feeble

Scrub away only the grime
Although never give up on making beauty

You soon will create
Rather than erase

Number two represents you together
The wood and the rubber

Nature and industry
You’ll make the future
You’ll edit the past

Ode to the eraser you will change the world

I wrote this when looking at a number 2 pencil.
