The sky comforts the stars, while the sun takes his twelve-hour break.

Many street lamps fake a smile to hide the pain of firing up the night.

You can hear the trees whispering in the wind while the owls hoot-hoot
on its branches.

Cars zoom down the damaged road,
Trying to avoid the moons’ demons.

Children dream sweet dreams, while the parents
have nightmares about finances.

Eventually the moon finishes his shift,
and the sun brightens up the sky.

Then it starts all over again.

The author's comments:

Hello, my name is Makayla Watkins and I am from Dallas, Tx. I attend Meyerland Middle School, and I am currently taking a Creative Writing Magnet Course. A fun fact about me is I started writing in the 4th grade, and it was a way to help me relieve stress.

I think that all parts of nature can see/feel things internally and maybe externally, so thats how i created this story

The poem talks about what happens when the sun falls and the moon takes over the night sky.
