Summary: Leina Išvaizdus Aleksa, named and taught to write by her criminal mother, is living with her two foster parents, Jamie and Paul. Her teacher gives each member of the class a journal to document their lives in, and Leina is dedicated to hers. Leina and her best friend, Claire, become determined to stick together at all costs, although this proves difficult.
