"Damn it, Ted!"

When you lose someone, it’s like you’re falling. Falling through blinding darkness, darkness so bright you can’t draw your breath. Emotions come boiling over, you lose track of what is real, and you suffocate in your anger and grief. I never imagined life without you, always thought you’d be there, to the end, laughing and telling stories and being your funny self. And now that you’re gone, I don’t know what to do, every thing hurts, and I can’t let you go. Maybe tonight, when I sleep, you will be in my dreams, there beside me, and every thing will be warm and safe and right with you. Dreams are my only hope right now, because I can never leave the past behind. I can never forget you. My best friend.

It's harder when it actually happens than when you write about it. I learned that today. And I hope I never have to learn about it ever again.
