Katniss Everdeen has been born, and raised (basically by herself) in “the seam”, with her little sister, Primrose, and mother who has never gotten over her husband’s death. Fate brings Katniss and Peeta Mellark together to compete for District 12 in the 74th Annual Hunger Games, after Katniss volunteered for her sister. To stay alive in the arena, Peeta and Katniss pretend to be lovers, and end up causing the distsricts to rebel against the government. In this rom-action series, it’s a fight to the death that will keep you on the edge of your seat, so good luck, and “may the odds be ever in your favor.”

I recommend this book and its sequels to anyone and everyone. You can relate to all of the characters at some point during the series, and watching the movie makes it even more exciting. What would you do if you had to compete in the Hunger Games?
