A Walk to Remember, by Nicholas Sparks

“This is my story; I promise to leave nothing out. First you will smile, then you will cry- don’t say you haven’t been warned.” A Walk to Remember, by Nicholas Sparks, really is a true story about love and fate. While Jamie Sullivan, the baptist minister’s daughter, is living out her life as an outcast with a secret that no one could guess, Landon Carter has fallen in love. Who knew that one Christmas play could trigger so much? Definitely not seventeen-year old senior, Landon Carter. He had never imagined that him and Jamie, two totally different people, would ever be together.

With this story being written like a memory, it is in first person. Having it told in this fashion gives the book in itself, character. I absolutely adored this book. I feel as though every time the story would give a clue to what Jamie’s secret was, Nicholas Sparks just steered you right out of that direction to keep your mind off of it. That is what kept me reading. This book is not for every teen over the age of seventh grade, but if you love stories with a deeper meaning, then this is a book for you.
