Ode To Black Girls

They try to steal my style and act like they care
And they never forget to mention my curls
That hold secrets I choose not share
They claim we are too “dramatic” for most
But they just can’t handle the power we pose
Speak up a little louder, I’m “too” what you say?
“Too loud,” “Too obnoxious,” “Too in the way”
Look, we are still in this fight, still in the tunnel
Approaching the bend away from oppression
Until it’s out of sight. So, if you don’t mind
I’ll be on my way, being..wait what did you say?
Oh yeah, Too loud,” “Too obnoxious,” “Too in the way.”
‘Cause that “angry” black girl, yeah she’s here to stay.

I wanted to write something that would make people think and also something that could make people maybe connect to the struggles of a black woman.
