I’ll never forget the screech my mother let out
When the phone rang and the news was spread
All of her tears could have stopped a drought
A moment that any child dreads
The days following were full of mourning and grief
Of cousins, brothers, aunts, and uncles
Hours on end of being together that were far from brief
Moments of silence broken up by the cracking of knuckles
It pains me to see anyone I know in suffering
Yet I don’t worry about the people who’ve passed
Maybe my sorrow for the deceased will come and is just buffering
But for now I’ll stay worrying for those who remain crashed
He’s in heaven and I know he’s looking down in guidance
it’s important for us to give each other confidence
