she lays quietly as gunshots strike above
sending heaven another loved one
hurt, frightened, what this world become.
around her is horizons of mourning doves.

just like a body, she lies straight                                           for those who have fought and are gone.
Opening up the heavenly gates
for those who have brought us each a new dawn

They are the reason the award of sacrifice is adorned               for those who have challenged every closed door
one by one, their loved ones are torn                                     yet we tend to ignore

this is where the harshness roars,
By this dreadful thing, called war.
