I'm never going back; the past is in the past. Let it go.

“Mirror, Mirror, on the wall,
Who is that girl, so thin and tall?
You said I was the loveliest of them all.”

“Well, Master, Master, on the floor,
She is loved by all, and greatly adored,
But for your information, she really is quite short.

Her hair is not that shade or hue,
Her eyes and breasts, in reality, are smaller, too,
And, though she’s lovely, she’s false, unlike any of you.”

“False? But Mirror, the photo’s right here,
And in the photo, her waist size is clear,
As well as the dimensions of her calves and rear.

Her skin is so flawless, a crystalline coffee,
Her teeth so blindingly white that it’s hard to see,
My God, I wish that girl could be me!”

“But Master, Master, if you could only realize,
This girl is fake, from her face to her thighs,
They’ve edited her height and her skin and her size.”

“But Mirror, would they do that in a public magazine?
Make every girl feel like she’s looking at a queen?
The sophistication of a woman with the body of a teen?

Would they really lie to all of us?
What’s the point of making such a fuss?
There’s no reason why they must.”

“Well, Master, for one, the girl represents a company.
If only for a moment, she is the face of an industry,
And that industry would like to be as high and mighty as an entity.

So they make this girl greater than most, or no, all.
So you girls become jealous, and then you fall,
And much to their delight, you buy, and not in numbers small.

I am a mirror, as once was the camera, showing the truth,
But on the covers of Vogue and People, we mirrors are removed,
Replaced with images of women to set you girls aloof.

The world is no longer reflection,
It now relies on your perception,
And there is simply no exception.”

“So, Mirror, in real life, walking down the hall,
She will not ring a bell, will not look like that at all?
As you said, will she not be even remotely tall?”

“Now, Master, I’m not saying that she is not very pretty,
I am simply saying she’s no better than you or than me,
She’s a person, and as people we all enter this world equally.”

“So, Mirror, should these lies not be stopped?”
“Well, I wish they’d be left to rot,
But as far as I can see, they will not.”

“Why not? They should. People tricked every day,
And all we people seem to have to say
Is ‘It will be okay.’

Well, it won’t! Not if we let this grow,
And all this mess only goes to show
How little companies care, or know

About how they influence people by how these pictures seem,
I know it’s for money, but that’s downright mean!
Money is only a bit of paper or metal, why lower a girl’s self esteem?

I never could have dreamed at all.”
“Well, Master, now you know, from wall to wall,
You aren’t the unfairest of them all.”

I want to thank you for writing this, first of all, because that's really what the world is like now. Secondly, I want to say that this is very well written. Good job!
