Favorite Quote:
“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.”
― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

A silence falls upon the waiting crowd
And suddenly the show’s about to start.
In this room which, before, sounded so loud
I only hear the beat of my own heart.
There is not even a second to waste.
I breathe in deeply, and count down from ten.
The curtain opens, I now move with greater haste.
Like a groundhog, I emerge from my den.
And looking out upon the men and women
As I stand, exposed, at center stage,
I’m feeling nervous; head and stomach spinnin’
Still, I perform, and crowds begin to rage.
This is the reason we love performing;
Loud applause for you is always heartwarming.

I wrote this Shakespearean-style sonnet for my English class a couple weeks ago. it is written completely in iambic pentameter- with just a couple small areas which break the rules. Interpret it however you will; acting, singing, dancing even stand-up comedy. Please find what this poem truly means to you.
