A Lovely Reflection

In New Orleans I wait and love no one
But thee. Long lost in darkness, light ne’er seen.
To him I am a doll, a figurine,
A piece of meat to end the scathing spun
From not pleasure, but pain. Time be undone!
I burn for him, the sun a fire screen
That pierces not his mirrored shell: obscene
In principal, but dev’lish with his stun.
What have I left? Nothing. Of men? Facades
Conceal their motives. No truth to withhold
From myself. Callous reigns make men my slaves.
I am their ruler- No- I am their god
Who views their lives as a pittance of gold
In great shining caverns of men depraved.
