Hiding your emotions,
Pretending to become someone you're not.
Afraid of people's reactions,
Not wanting to get caught.

Scared to take off the mask,
You have suddenly been attached too.
It will be a hard task,
But finally agreeing to push through.

Pulling off the hideous disguise,
You start feeling at peace within.
Not afraid to show the improvisation you've made through the cries,
When finally finding someone you love.

Forever shining brighter than the Northern star,
To that person, you mean so much and more.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece called "Mask" because I went through a phase in middle school where I was afraid of what people would think of who I really am. So to prevent that, I pretended to be someone that was considered 'more cool'.
