These are the wonderful noises I hate
The screeching squeal of chalk on a chalk board
The crackle of ice, the dog in her crate
The click of a pen, the slash of the sword

The flip of a flip flop, the whack of a tail
The tapping of nails on top of a table
Slam of a car door, the snap of a sail
The stutter when you mess up a fable

The crash of a glass, the crack of plastic
Click of my alarm clock when I stop it
Zip of a zipper, the tear of fabric
The steady drip of a leaky faucet

These are all noises heard throughout the day
All these sounds that will never go away
