First I dread it at the very start,
The season is fun, but I don’t want to go.
I am split into two separate parts,
Finding many reasons to just say no.

Once I get into swimming season,
The work gets hard; the pool is a freeze,

I remember. I love swimming for a reason,
And that opportunity I must seize.

The season’s end approaches in my sight.
Everyone’s favorite weeks, the tapering part,
Yet it’s coming to an end, I gasp, with fright.
As I see it go so does my heart.

“Don’t fret there’s a comin’ another season.”
Though this one left, I love swimming for a reason.
