To experience life through a shaded lens;

Either literally, or figuratively, it all depends

I see the Dark, when others see Light

I only see clearly, when it is night

Pessimistic, I would appear to seem

But to know the truth, one must read in between

A positive view, it is true, I do not have

But that does not mean it’s not something I once had

I used to see Joy, in every little thing

The relief from the heat, a cool Summer breeze brings

Now all heat makes me itch; the Sun is too bright

And a shaded lens distorts my sight

I can take off the glasses, but the Veil still remains

MY whole life, it would seem, is followed by storm-clouds and rain`

The author's comments:

My intent for this poem was to give the reader insight as to what it is like for myself to constantly wear sunglasses, due to light-sensitivity and migraines. It also could be interpreted as how my experiences have dimmed my perspective on life, and made me somewhat of a pessimistic individual.
