Desperation and Resolution

Exhausted by this enervating fight
I stagger away from the dreadful field
Like a knight having employed all his might
I impotently watch my foe prevail
My unrelenting determination
Was too insignificant, now I quail
Before the cause of my resolution
To smother my dim flame with my drops of tear
My life will have been brief and meaningless
At least I battled for what I held dear
The whole nation, I hope, my God will bless
Under the dominion of their new king
I can’t subject my realm to this dire ail
Batteries replenished, let’s go triumph!
