The moment before you fall
you start to feel it all.
The memories come back
and you forget to relax.

Your emotions run wild
and you hope you’re a child,
but really you’re just refusing to grow up.
You’re telling the world to shut up.

You’re keeping it in,
starting to binge,
and going out on a limb
when you tell me how bad it feels.

The anxiety’s coming.
Taking over your mind.
It’s yelling at you “Stop trying. You’re already mine.”

The world starts to shake
Your heart starts to break.
You’re no longer you and you hate what it takes.

You’re trying so hard,
but the horizon is just so far.
When it’s over you realize
this was no mistake.

You can’t erase
what’s inside your brain.
But when it stops
you know you’re okay.

The life that you had
is nothing to you now.
Everything you once knew is just a background sound.

It’s playing in the distance
and telling you what to do,
but you can’t focus on anything else
besides what your anxiety’s telling you to do.

You can’t erase what’s
inside your brain.
But when it stops
you know you’re okay.

As you are slowly suffocated
by all your biggest fears.
Your life is ending
and death feels near.

The saddest of it all
is that all of your fear
is coursing through you.
Even when no danger is near.
The world caves in.
You no longer have friends.
But when it stops
you know you’re okay.

And when you know you’re okay,
No one can stop you from being you.
