Introducing a new disease,
Infecting the new generation through its clicking keys.
A disease whose purpose is to infect the brain,
And makes you feel immune to pain.

Although it’s symptoms go unseen,
It steadily infects you through your TV screen.
It seeps its way into your mind,
Until your individuality is confined.

It slowly makes you disconnected,
While it tells you lies, of your digital connection.
It makes sure you keep your head looking down,
As you miss out on the whole world that’s all around.

The cure is unknown,
But it makes you feel at ease when you look at your phone.
Without the pixels you might just have a heart attack,
But with the pixels you can’t see that your mother is having a heart attack.

You become desensitized,
And lose your ability to recognize.
That if you look past your tweets,
There are people living in the streets.

There are children being discriminated,
And animal breeds being eliminated.
But you cannot do a thing,
Because you’re too caught up in that little box, that goes “Ring, Ring”.

Quick! Lift your head up,
And stop watching Lebron’s layup.
And you’ll see that there’s a world out there,
That’s more than just a celebrity love affair.

You’ll see that there’s a world in pain,
If you could just stop being vain.
There are others, who are suffering,
While you wait for your video to stop buffering.

If only you could see that your disconnection,
Is the cause of this whole infection.
Maybe if we were more mature,
We could find a way to be the cure.

Or maybe if you’d just understand,
That if you take that little box, that’s in your hand.
The one that keeps you so involved
And just put it in your pocket, problem solved.
