I know this girl
Who speaks in familiar tongue
Words uttered countless times before
Placed inside her rut when she was very young

She tells me her tired dreams
Shadow hopes of those before
And she wants nothing more
Nothing more than to build herself
By herself
Build herself a new form

(Chorus)
So smile baby smile
I know that it gets old
But nothing lasts forever
At least that's what I am told

And laugh baby laugh
Your pain's not spent in vain
It's a mountain you are climbing
But you'll reach the top someday

Yes you'll reach the top some day
Baby keep climbing
(End of chorus)

I know this girl
She's working herself out
Out of the rut she's found herself thrown in
She fuels her motivation with spectator doubt

In her process of new form
This girl she stumbled by a rope
That sparked a light of hope
A light of hope that led her climbing
Climbing up
Climbing out of her rut

(Chorus)
So smile baby smile
I know that it gets old
But nothing lasts forever
At least that's what I am told

And laugh baby laugh
Your pain's not spent in vain
It's a mountain you are climbing
But you'll reach the top someday

Yes you'll reach the top someday
Baby keep climbing
(End of chorus)

And as she pulled herself, up and out
A mindless body a mindless remark
Sent her tumbling back into the dark
But
You know this girl
She dusted herself off
Told that body off
And kept climbing

So she smiles yes she smiles
She's getting sort of old
But resilience lasts forever
That's something that she knows

And she laughs oh how she laughs
For her pain's not spent in vain
It's a mountain she's been climbing
And she's reached the top today

Yes she's reached the top today
Because she kept climbing
