This Angry Train Is A Howlin

As I'm staring down into that sunset

Mahogany in it's radius and subtle glow

I've seen those good people working so damn hard

But maybe I have judged the ensemble before the show

I have kissed the ground before the feet of Abraham

Cause he was a wiser man than me

Cause he was a wiser man than me

And should I hope this railroad be complete

And my life's work is done

I pray our lord they call him Jesus Christ

May cleanse me of my sins

Because this is a deed not for the weak of spirit

And under this burning sun, in my heart it don't feel right

But now I hear that angry train a whistling

She's blowing steam, howling like wounded Gaelic banshees

And I hear that metal demon roar as she stops not for the man of faith

But for every sinner doomed to ride, there may be an angel sweet and a passing saint

I see all these men a slavin' toiling till their backs arch like a widowed tree

Traitors lynched and black men whipped, under capitalistic tyranny

Steel laid next to steel and the burning in your heart is all you feel

Even whilst the cold is still knockin' at your bones, you stand lo and behold

The blood of the lamb has purged your sin free from temptations nasty whim

But some are killers thru the end and they dump the bodies in the Blackburn Riverbed

Red spirits calling angry like the wolves, howlin', hunting down in their packs

Scalping and pillaging, you have trespassed on this land far too long my friend

This is were war can truly break more than just your backs

Come morning light there's work to be done cause too many bodies been food for a gun

This railroad shall be built, a testament of hard labor and guilt

You will reap what you sow, even if a priest our outlaw life

May be all you know

But now I hear that angry train a whistling

She's blowing steam, howling like wounded Gaelic banshees

And I hear that metal demon roar as she stops not for the man of faith

But for every sinner doomed to ride, there may be an angel sweet and a passing saint
