Who Are You?
I haven't seen YOU before in my life.
Where is my love- Rosie- my wife?
I could have sworn she was lying next to me here...
Oh oh there you are! You look ravishing dear!
Who is that stranger that hovers by the door?
He wears a nurses scrubs- have you seen him before?
He says “Have you taken your evening meds? It's quarter past four?”
I raise my nose at this amused-
because its morning! The sun is shining!
He must be crazy or confused.
Or perhaps he's simply lying.

But I don't want to start yelling at this Mister
Rosie's always hated my quicker-than-lightning temper,
So instead I lean toward her and whisper-
“Sweetie can you believe this guy?”
And he looks back at me with the saddest of looks in his eye.
I reach for her hand:
But shes not next to me anymore...
The clock reads 4:15 and I know for sure:
Its a weekday and she teaches piano everyday at four.
She loves getting gussied up, with her hair curled
I wish she would have skipped it and stayed here with me,
But I know my Rosie.
And she wouldn't miss piano practice for the world.

Who Are You?
I haven't seen YOU before in my life...
You know you look a lot like Rosie my wife!
Its really too bad we never had a child,
but her spirit was much too wild.
My she shined brighter than the sun at high noon,
her cheek glowing like beautiful dew,
back in the times when we sang that little tune-
What was it now? Oh! “Can't take my eyes off of you.”

Honey why are you crying?
Was it something I said?
A beauty like you should be smiling away-
What did you say?
NO MY ROSIE IS NOT DEAD.

Then I see it.
My love lying in her crimson stained coffin,
delicate beautiful as ever
But still. So still I stare intent willing her eyes
to move from behind her sewn-shut eyelids.
No.
No.
How can that be when shes sitting here next to me?
I see her but she never speaks back to me.
She looks at me death burning in her eyes
It cannot. be It cannot be.
I've missed her so much
her smell, her touch
and now all that’s left of her is a stone with her name;
Without her I can never, ever be the same.

Who Are You?
I haven't seen you before in my life,
Where is my love- Rosie- my wife?
