Ticking clocks remind me that I'm still alive; Taunting me with consistencies at this hectic time.

This is a conversation,
Between me and a man that I know;
When we broke into the abandoned house,
And wrote our names on all the windows.

"Peter, I never quite got the notion,
That you've revealed your true side;
There's a hint of sadness and I fear,
You're heart is not in line with your eyes."

"Ryan, I fear you're not far from the mark,
I'd be a liar if I say I know who I am;
I've yet to discover where I stand,
18 years old, am I a boy or a man?"

"In the years that I've lived, I've only met a few,
People I trust, people I love;
It's hard to say, so let me be blunt,
Of all the people on that list, I am not one."

Then I smashed all of the windows
That bore my name,
With a tear in my eye,
I watched the pain/pane
Fall to the floor,
Glass and soul the same
Glass and soul the same
Glass and soul the same.

As I collapsed in on myself,
The black hole in my gut was eating me away;
Ryan sat down right by my side,
Leaned in close so I could hear what he had to say.

"Peter, I know that you struggle,
Life's been no walk in the park;
Turning around has never been easy,
But follow me, I'll lead you out of the dark."

As we stood up, he dusted off my shoulder,
And I could feel myself come alive;
In that moment, I made a promise,
I'd take everything in stride.

On that day, I vowed to make a change,
Trim the dead branches so only flowers remain;
Grow into the garden that I was meant to be,
Start again new without a smudge or a stain.

Then I smashed all of the windows
That bore my name,
With a tear in my eye,
I watched the pain/pane
Fall to the floor,
Glass and soul the same
Glass and soul the same
Glass and soul the same.

Then I smashed all of the windows
That bore my name,
With a tear in my eye,
I watched the pain/pane
Fall to the floor,
Glass and soul the same
Glass and soul the same
Glass and soul the same.
