I can see the wet streaks on your cheeks
And I can hear that sniffle in your nose
But no matter how hard I try,
You’re just barely out of reach.

Don’t you go and cry in the corner
Don’t you go and cry the night away
Can’t you see that I’m trying to reach you
Just take a few steps this way into the light

I can tell you’re in a lot of pain
I know just how it feels, but
When you turn you back and try to run away
I can’t do much more than know
Don’t you know that I’m standing right here

I’m waiting for you to reach your hand my way
I’ve got the tissue right here for you
Just come on and take a step into the light
The shadow is only in your mind
