VERSE 1:

These days are changing, they’re going fast.

And we’re all moving, without looking back.

Our plans, our futures are spiraling by.

And I am watching, as our friendship dies.

VERSE 2:

We have moved on, we’re not kids anymore.

It’s like opportunity is knocking on our doors.

We had no idea what the future held for us.

So you had made me one broken promise.

------->

Well I guess you never know what you have until it’s gone.

Now that you’ve left, I see you were never the one.

CHORUS:

What is love, if it’s not enough?

This was never what I ever dreamed of.

We had potential, or at least I believed in us.

But I lost you before we were out of touch.

We saw it coming, but you held me tight.

You swore that we would put up a fight.

The future couldn’t break us, couldn’t tear us down.

Now in those words, I slowly drown.

VERSE 3:

You said you loved me, I’ll never forget

All the times we knew we’d always regret.

You were my best friend, how could you do this to us?

I thought you said we’d overcome the distance.

VERSE 4:

It might sound harsh but I’m not tryin’ to be mean.

You’re just a friend-whore, I didn’t mean anything.

You were so perfect, so extraordinary.

How could I know we were just temporary?

------->

BRIDGE:

How could you still say we mean something?

When in all of this time have you thought of me?

You’re too busy, moving on.

And I am kind of glad you are gone.

I obviously loved you more than me.

But now, I guess, I am free.

I was dedicated for far too long.

Now I am kind of glad you are gone.

I am kind of glad you are gone.

CHORUS:

Because what is love, if it’s not enough?

This was never what I ever dreamed of.

We had potential, or at least I believed in us.

But I lost you before we were out of touch.

We saw it coming, but you held me tight.

You swore that we would put up a fight.

The future couldn’t break us, couldn’t tear us down.

Now in those words, I slowly drown.

END:

These days are changing, they’re going fast.

And we’re all moving, without looking back.

Our plans, our futures are spiraling by.

And I am watching, as our friendship dies.

So some of my friends have been experiencing a lot of different feelings due to all the changes this year, with all of us being such great friends in high school, becoming extremely close in Senior Year, only to see what happens as some stay and some go, moving onto the next chapter in their lives. The first year of college is the true test to friendship, and this song is about one way a friendship could end up.

Dedicated to my friend, Maya Jones.

Thank you! When the lyrics hit home, they come out better. I always try to write something relatable (:

This is a really great song! The lyrics flow together very well, and it is so easy to relate to. Definitely not a one hit wonder :)
