Light the Night

A young woman’s crying,
Weeping in the night;
Doesn’t have an answer,
Nothing seems right.

Her husband is so far away
Where once he was so near;
This empty house, his empty words –
This hurt, this pain, this fear.

A young boy is crying,
Weeping in the night;
Doesn’t want an answer,
Ending this fight.

He never had a friend to love,
Or care or hear. No hope.
His empty life, his empty heart –
These cuts, these tears, this rope.

And now we sit watching,
Listen in the night.
We have an answer,
We have a Light.

We may just be the ones to make
A difference in a life.
A kinder tongue, a simple hug,
This heart, this mind, this love.

We all have opportunities in our lives to reach out to other people who are hurting and alone. Whether that's a family member, a neighbor, or a kid at school, there's always somebody that is put in your path for a reason. It'd be a pity to waste that opportunity, but we often simply choose to ignore the pain in front of us. The cool thing is that we can change that today! The difference that a kind word makes can be life-changing. I know that kindness is what saved me and turned my life around!

Great moral. (: Makes you think.
