What the World Knows

Your best friend falls on the street
They laugh and mock as she comes to her feet
You stand on the side
Limp her away with pride

Her best friend writing a song
The lyrics sound all wrong
She don’t know how to tell him
Lets him show it with pride

You can play the game of trust
You can hate me with all your might
But you cant take away my right to be
You cant take away me

He sits up late wrinting a song
And the lyrics just wont come
Gets to thinkin about me
Gets to thinking its about me

Lyrics talk of a dancing girl
Turned to poles in her little world cause
She wasn’t loved by him
He didn’t know what he did

You can play the game of trust
You can hate me with all your might
But you cant take away my right to be
You cant take away me

The lyrics get out
They hit the charts
Everyone sings aloud
Of my broken heart

He tells them all
And lies to me
About what those lyrics mean

You can play the game of trust
You can hate me with all your might
But you cant take away my right to be
You cant take away me

So now the girl sits alone
Cries at night inside her home
Cause the world wont take her for what she is
No ones cares but what the song really says

He doesn’t respect a thing she does
He hates for the world she won
He broke her heart and told
Half the story to the world

You can play the game of trust
You can hate me with all your might
But you cant take away my right to be
You cant take away me
