We can blow bubble gum

With our legs swinging over the the pier

The city won’t flood just cause of one tear

Is it conditional when you say forever?

Can we grow sick of the sweet taste together?

Watch the pink paste pop and stick to our faces

The best memories in our favorite places

The delicate stretch of the elastomers

Don’t blow too hard

You’ll ruin her

You’ve ruined her

You’ve ruined her

Again

The salty air can carry our sweet breath into the waves

So many contradicting feelings in this humid haze

The sound of something so calamitous is calming my mind

I’m so addicted to your love that I’ve gone blind

You say love me, love me like its breathing

Is it that easy or are you extending the truth

Can’t get the gum off my stupid tooth

Fast foward to 10 minutes later

I’m sitting here calling you a traitor

And in that moment I realized

I’m done with this compromise

The one thing that kept me from fading away

Is the thing that no longer wants me to stay

Isn’t sad

Isn’t lovely

It makes me mad

The taste of being free

The melancholia attacks

Can’t cover up its tracks

Isn’t sad

Itsn’t lovely

It makes me mad

The taste of being free

Bubble gum, bubble gum

A sickly sweet concoction

Bubble gum, bubble gum

You’ve put me up for auction

I really thought you cared

You’ve caught me so off guard

I didn’t know something I loved could leave me so scared

What happened to your promises

They’re starting to cut deep

You’re lies were so obvious

I really wanted to believe

You’re emotionless, indifferent, fake sympathy

All my bubble gum memories

Haunting me

All I do is try

All I do is try

Over you I won’t cry

No, I won’t cry cry cry

Isn’t sad

Isn’t lovely

It makes me mad

The taste of being free

This piece is about the sadness that comes with "being free" or getting out of a relationship and how it contradicts the sweet taste of bubblegum memories
