Come Back Another Day

Grandma said you were gone
And you wouldn't be coming back
You left because of something called a heart attack.
When I asked why you weren’t coming back,
Mommy wouldn’t say
She just walked to her bedroom and cried all day
I looked out the window and listened to the rain,
Telling it to come back another day.
I don’t know why the heart attack took you away, but I
Wish it would give you back, because no amount of rain,
could take away mommy’s pain.
