I was granny smith green,
a calming sense of nostalgia swam through the mind.
A pie on the window sill cooling,
just like a movie.
The one who calms all worries of their friends,
cares for them each night.
You made me Converse black,
the canvas that I dirty each day.
I buy a new pair each time I see an imperfection,
they seem to become darker and darker with each new purchase.
I calm their worries because I have experienced the worst,
I know the most.
Granny smith green—
The color of calm, life, and safety.
Each one I hope to achieve in every passing day.
Converse black—
The absence of color, it’s pain and strength.
One has more power than the other.
It's almost gone.
Like the emerald light seen at the end of the water each night,
only to be seen if the black of night let up for a split second.
The green that Gatsby and I both needed to survive.
It slipped from our hands before it could be saved.
The green that will never come back for us.
