Frozen Scream
First, the preparation:
Eyes wide and red and not scared — terrified;
Pale lips coerced open and stuck frozen in time;
Everything frozen, even more so than an ice cube waiting patiently in a freezer.
And then the scream,
Ripping from the pit of the lungs, the eyes, the lips, the whole trembling body,
Spinning like a tornado spiraling out of control,
Plunging into the dimmed light of the world outside.
But even after the vibration has finally ceased…
The eyes are still wide,
The lips are still open,
And everything is still frozen.
