isn't all that,
but you
don't know
indie bands
like the
American Authors
Imagine Dragons
Twenty-one Pilots
Fall Out Boy
that make music
that you can dance
to and be inspired by.

You say
the most
ignorant things
to me.
You say that
no one
cares about
the history
of black hair,
but you
don't know
what it's like
to have combs
break when you
try and rangle
your tangles
into something.

You say
the most
boring things
to me.
You say
that
white people
listen to rap music
and talk 'ghetto',
trying to sound black,
but some black people
speak clearly and
with confidence
intelligence
diligence.

Why does
any of this matter?
You've said
all of this to me.
I've rolled my eyes
and gagged as
the words
fell on my
tongue like sugar,
but I had to spit
them out.
I can only handle
so much salt.

So here's
something for you:
think about what
you say.
Think about who
you're talking to.
Because if this
is going to continue,
you've got to
acknowledge
that other people
have problems,
even though you
don't care
get it
understand.
