Comfortable Pain

Sometimes, this place is haunted
With children and sunlight.
I get scared sometimes–
Sometimes I grow haunted too.
And sometimes this place glows golden;
Golden with voices and shadows
And broken arrows.
Sometimes I am golden too.
But mostly, I fall in the middle;
Somewhere in between.
Mostly I am sad but not too sad
In a happy way.
I am content with this.
See, I am in pain,
But I am also the most comfortable I have ever been in my life.
