Oh How I Miss You
I miss the light
On your face
When we waltzed
Among the seashells,
Our feet lightly frolicking to the stunning song.
I miss the stars
In your eyes
When I hummed a sweet song,
the spotlight glaring in my excited eyes.
I miss the sound
Of your voice,
When you would fill the room with jocular jokes.
I miss the feeling when I hugged you
For the last time.
I gripped tightly,
Trying to soak up the memories
And dry the tears.
Oh how I miss you

My inspiration for this piece came from my memories of my grandfather, who I call Poppy. Poppy had brain cancer last year and sadly passed away in June. This poem highlights the memories that I miss with him and how much of my life I spent with him that I miss. I wrote this poem from my heart and I hope that you enjoy it. :)
