Guilty Parties

March 28, 2018

Convicts await on Death Row
Their reckoning still yet to come
To the electric chair they’ll go
Their hearts and minds already numb

I am not one to judge
When we have others’ lives in our hands
As guilty parties, they will trudge
To their godforsaken lands

I know not what to do
There are guilty, yes, I see that
You, them, me – do we rue
When death comes sly as a cat

Victims’ families are ever distraught
But are their lives ours to take?
Maybe if we gave this a little more thought
For the next generation’s sake

Guilty parties, yes, I know
I know that they did was wrong
Living on is harder than ‘the row’
Misery and regret will linger long
