Courage
We stay in the shadows
waiting for out shot.
We watch our prey from a distance.
We creep towards the creek. Our
shields made of Antelope, spears that
are lethal, and our heart.
We look around.
“Who’s gonna throw?” This is what’s
talked about in our inner circle
My heart clobbering like a
cheetah getting its prey.
I bring myself to be above.
I deliver a dagger into
the lion. The Maasai around me and they
now know I will lead them.
The lion falls and so does
my childhood. I am now and
forever a man in society.
