A few years ago
there was a girl
she was not a refugee
instead she was just a normal girl
her smile was
a drop of sunshine
on a cloudy day
she was just a child
who loved to write
loved to walk by the sea
but some nights became loud
she had to flee
they now call her a refugee
where is she supposed to go
when her house no longer felt like a home
she may be free one day
she may be you one day
she may be me
