I was talking

to the crows
again.

They told me
about your
tawdry

eyes,
glue still
dripping,
scarecrow

skin, rags
on spirit

and how
I could never.

I love you.

The author's comments:

The fallacies of human judgment distort our vision when we search for love. Arbitrary standards of beauty, rigid definitions of sexuality, prejudice, and age differences assure us that our soulmates cannot be loved. "Flocked, judgment" explores love outside of these boundaries.

I read a lot of poetry, this doesn’t make me an expert, but I know what I like. This is a beautiful poem, well written, and it stays with you.
Best of luck Courtney
