No One Ever Told Me
no one ever told me
today would be the day
you left this luscious earth
with not a word to say
i am torn, broken, hurt
but you will never leave my mind
i am damaged, shattered, riven
but we still stay intertwined
a thousand tears won’t bring you back
yet i cry more everyday
a thousand words won’t bring you back
yet i pray in every way
my dreams are filled with you
your sweet smile and precious face
every night you come to see me
sharing with me your grace
life shall go on
the world will not end
but you will stay in my heart
as my very best friend

My cousin Gabby Galbo passed away in May of 2012 at just 5 years old. This poem was written in rememberance of her and for other people who have also lost a loved one.
