Most holidays are better spent with family
For us, sometimes that means taking an eight hour drive to Kentucky
But it is all worth it for gma’s famous sugar cookies
Multiple times a year we carry out this tasty tradition

We drive into the cracked driveway, filled with excitement
Gma is already awaiting us in the garage.
Ready to give endless hugs
And memories

As soon as we walk in
The smell of warm cookies is filling the air
Sugar cookies are covering the wooden table
Laid out on sheets of parchment paper

All of the grandkids surrounding the table
Holding butter knives ready to frost
Then we begin
Frosting the santa shaped sugar cookies
And making endless memories

I was inspired to write this piece because now, as my grandma is not doing well and does not remember a lot of stuff, including her kids and grandkids, we are not able do this tradition with her anymore so I wanted to write about it during Christmas time.
