Unspoken.

November 9, 2017

I wish someone told me
There will be times when my life would swirl,
around me in shapes.
Boxes I wouldn’t fit,
Circles I wouldn’t be a part of,
Triangles I wouldn’t want to be a part of,
Hourglasses I would want to look like
Pyramids I would want to climb
Spheres I would revolve around
But inverted cones I would want to hide myself in.

I wish someone told me
There will be times when I would create pindrop explosions
Sparks I wouldn’t want to light
Ripples that destroy as they move
Whirlpools I would fight to keep inside
Discontinuous troughs with my awkward groove
Thumps that would shove dirt in my own eyes
Slams to silence lies
And tunes I would want to lose myself in.

I wish someone told me there will be times
When my own voice would make me listen;
To shouts I haven’t heard
Screams I wouldn’t want to let out
Whispers that don’t really exist,
To the silence of my own doubt
Claps that would end with my word
Whistles I wish I never heard
And hums I would confide myself in.

I wish someone told me
There will be times when I would be lost,
And discovered with emotion cues
Lose when I wouldn’t have much to give
Flaws I would want to hide
Spotlights I would love on my skin
And caves I would seep through, confide.
Slip and fall hard, giggle and shine
And fly softly, smile, cry and whine.

I wish someone told me there will be times
When my verses wouldn’t rhyme
People, would be as sour as lime
Things wouldn’t be as prime
And plans wouldn’t fall in line,
But everything would be fine.

Hearing about never-ending incidents of people of my age, young adults harming themselves or ending their loves is never easy.
Let us spread mental health awareness and most importantly, love, support and assurance. Let us learn to stand by and for one another.
