Speak Up

Some people say I don’t talk enough
That I need to learn to speak up
But how am I supposed to do “that?”
My whole life I’ve been taught to bite my tongue
Keep my opinion to myself
Been told that my feelings are invalid
“Tell us how you feel!”
But we won’t listen
“Speak louder!”
But we still aren’t listening
Okay, I’ll speak up
But I won’t be heard.
