I watch you walk down those dimly lit hallways

That same smile plastered on larger than life
eager for empty acknowledgments received like clockwork

Promenading like a popular in pseudo-confidence
growing paler with the fear of being transparent

Your eyes glazed over from an era of tears
held back like the feelings that brought them

Ceaselessly stoic,
I watch you walk down those dimly lit hallways

Until I turn away from my reflection in the windows.
