Concert Cacophony

The tinkle of a flute
tore through
the musty night air
and every few seconds
or so
the note ruptured
as companions joined
the solitary instrument.
One tuning note
carried in its single tone
the wail of an aching heart,
howl of a confused soul,
and guffaw of a tickled mind.
Whispering through the floral
summer wind,
it trickled into nothing,
and the lull of impending beauty
electrified the night,
and blazed in the hearts of the audience.
