The spears above the tiger’s head,
The cities right below.
The eyes of the tiger dark like the night sky.
He moves slowly through what is left of his land.
BOOM CRASH goes another tree in the distance
As his habitat is slowly destroyed.
The tigers home a ring of fire.
He lays quiet and alone
since no one seems to care an awful lot,
it’s not going to get better, it’s not.
The tiger fights to stray from bright light
alone in the woods, or what is left of them.
Every fallen tree is another tigers home, gone.
It’s the end of another painful day,
the tired tiger trying to rest.
He lies down in the most covered spot he finds,
hearing the trees screaming as they hit the ground.
Tigers all around trying to block out the sound.
Everyday, running at the speed of light from danger.
Animals are in danger and we are to blame.
How did this happen and when will it end?

The author's comments:

This poem is based of a mandala art piece of a tiger. It is surronded by spears and cities. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was the problems with deforestation and I wanted to express my feelings about it using a poem.
